Mary Cover Jones’s Experiment on Children

Over the course of several days, Jones gradually moved the rabbit closer to Peter while continuing to provide him with candy. Eventually, Peter was able to touch the rabbit while eating candy, and he showed no signs of fear or distress.

Jones’s experiment demonstrated that counterconditioning could be an effective way to eliminate phobias and other anxiety disorders.
